The city of choice rallies behind Sthuthikile Langa (21) from the region of KwaNoshezi, Pietermaritzburg.
Langa is one of the top three applicants in South Africa Idols Season 7.
Former Msunduzi Mayor Themba Njilo on Tuesday organized a voting campaign for Langa where he provided members of the Pietermaritzburg community with free Wi-Fi so they could vote for the aspiring star.
The campaign took place at Carbineer’s Gardens.
Njilo said The witness that this campaign was very important because it was a way to propel young talents to the top. He said he thinks that if people are able to work together, a lot can be accomplished. “Sthuthukile has done so well and has beaten thousands of people since the start of the competition. Now we have to push harder so that she can reach the top. It is just a few steps away and it needs our support, ”said Njilo.
Langa, known as “S22kile”, was announced as one of the top three finalists on Sunday. The other two are Berenike “Berry” Trytsman and Karabo Mathe.
The top three this year have made history because it is the first time that there are only women in the top three of the competition. Since the announcement, social media has been replete with people showing their support for the local star and encouraging each other to vote for her. Her parents said she had already tried to enter the Idols of South Africa competition, but could not audition due to long lines.
“We are very proud of her. Since entering the competition, she has grown musically.
Her mother Thembi Langa said: “My daughter has always loved music. In high school, she won all the music competitions. She burned food while cooking because she was busy singing.
“We are very proud of her. Since entering the competition, she has grown musically, ”she said.
Langa thanked everyone who has supported her daughter since joining the competition, adding that she wouldn’t be in the top three without her supporters. She also urged people to keep supporting her until the end.
